Starting the year off right!

About time we had another blog post, huh?!? We've been busy over here at The Montana Education Program! We just started Block #2 and we've got some new faces in class as well as nearly all the students from block #1 who decided to continue with our program :)

We're jumping into our winter cultivation segment of the program starting with building our seedling units which will be home to a veritable cornucopia of herbs, spices, cold weather veggies, & more!

NOTE: We will have started plants for sale to support our program in coming months ... stay tuned!

As always students start their day working on "at home" tasks assigned by their Livingston, MT school teachers. Once all that tedious stuff is out of the way we break for lunch, and let's be honest, some fun and games to shake things up! After lunch and recess we dive into the good stuff: Our Experiential Learning courses! This is the heart and soul of our program and something we are so excited to offer to local youth. The goal of these instruction bocks focus on providing hands-on experiences that we believe all children should have access to ... car maintenance, project planning and execution, animal husbandry, horticulture, applicable drawing skills, and much more! On top of all that, we also have Discovery Days where we head out to the MAERA ranch for hands-on experiences with all sorts of farm animals OR guests who come in and teach us about all sorts of things ... next guest is Rachael from Farm to School of Park County, can't wait!
